Matteo Lane
Is he the best gay comedian out there?
Offsite Linkby Anonymous | reply 84 | June 23, 2023 1:44 PM |
He needs to say more stuff. There is a lot of gesturing and its repetitive.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | November 30, 2021 2:51 AM |
He does have a very cute face and little muscle bod.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | November 30, 2021 2:52 AM |
I didn't laugh. I didn't even crack a smile.
So, no, he's not.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | November 30, 2021 2:53 AM |
Who are some of your favorite gay comedians, r4?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | November 30, 2021 2:54 AM |
Hilarious.
It's like 1980s gay comedy all over again. Which wasn't funny then.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | November 30, 2021 2:57 AM |
I really like his stuff, OP. And he's pretty hot, too. Some other gay comedians you should check out include Tig Notaro, Brad Loekle, Joe Lycett, Tom Allen, Bob Smith, and Eddie Sarfaty,
Offsite Linkby Anonymous | reply 7 | November 30, 2021 2:58 AM |
Yeah, he’s not that funny and I usually find some redeeming quality out of most comedians.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | November 30, 2021 3:01 AM |
I used to follow him on Twitter, but TBH, his act gets old fast. He's repetitive and there is just something, I don't know, condescending in his delivery. Everything I have seen him do is about being gay, coming out, being gay, and coming out. *yawn* Also, he seems to think he's sexy? I'm not sure. Just, nah.
As for gay comedians? Tig Notaro. Hannah Gadsby. Jaboukie Young. Josh Thomas. They're all significantly funnier than Matteo Lane.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | November 30, 2021 3:01 AM |
Nope. Hes cute but I bet exhausting to be around in real life. Coming out stories arent particularly interesting anymore either. Social media has zillions of them.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | November 30, 2021 3:08 AM |
He’s not funny but I don’t like Kathy Griffin kind of humor.
There’s more to being gay than coming out and having gay voice. I got over all that shit by 16 almost 18 years ago.
I can’t relate cause it’s so old to me.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | November 30, 2021 3:18 AM |
He's pretty annoying but he is handsome when he doesn't speak and has a beautiful ass.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | November 30, 2021 3:24 AM |
I couldn’t even get past the first 5 seconds.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | November 30, 2021 3:28 AM |
Please, he uses his body as his main selling point to get attention, not his comedy. But at least he does have Onlyfans as a back up whenever he eventually needs it.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | November 30, 2021 3:31 AM |
80% of stand-up comedians rely on the audience being drunk to get laughs.
But it's slack when the stand-up comedians laugh at their own jokes.

He makes Uncle Joey seem funny.

That skinny ginger nerd made an absolute fool of himself by going to Manly Beach and going up to random hunky men in speedos and trying to crack on to them. They all thought he was nuts.
It was dreadful, unfunny and embarrassingly bad
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 28, 2022 5:37 AM |
Op, from your video, I think he's really good. Mom looking at him from the back window, "Steve, I think this one's gayer than the first one". Lol! I remember when my 12 year old great nephew was in the yard hula dancing. My partner and I shook our heads in unison. Yep, he's probably like us.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 28, 2022 5:51 AM |
James Adomian is a gay comedian and a talented voice actor. Highly recommend.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 28, 2022 5:59 AM |
Theres something very negative and cynical about him. Its like he thinks he's cooler and smarter than everyone else in the room.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 28, 2022 6:07 AM |
He's ok.
I prefer Fortune Feimster.
Love her.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 28, 2022 7:05 AM |
I think he’s funny and adorably handsome. But Joel Kim Booster is the hottest, funniest gay comedian.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 28, 2022 7:12 AM |
[quote] thinks he's cooler and smarter than everyone else in the room.
You have to be an EGO maniac to be a stand-up comedian and be watched by a drunken audience while you utter pointless drivel.

I wanna sniff Matteos damp pits. I bet he's a great bottom.

Undoubtedly. He has jack russell terrier energy.

Why is his hat backwards? We don't do that.

Sure we do! It’s in blowjob position.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 28, 2022 5:59 PM |
*sigh*
Comedians should rely on their WIT to attract attention - not their bodies.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 28, 2022 6:05 PM |
R26 I agree. Perhaps the really good comedians can hide it.

Gays are horrible comedians. Too much virtue-signaling and soap box bullshit.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | May 29, 2022 7:03 AM |
Why are British/Irish gay comedians (Graham Norton, Alan Carr) so much funnier than American ones?
by Anonymous | reply 38 | May 29, 2022 7:25 AM |
I used to think Eddie Sarfaty was funny....he's not.
He seems nice though.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | May 29, 2022 7:43 AM |
I like Matteo. It's odd to me that his stage outfit is basically that of a WeHo escort, and I'm not clear whether he's trying to signal his availability to his gay audience members. At the same time, his act (so far as I've seen it) is so innocuous and gentle that maybe he's trying to show he's not a total pussy.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | May 29, 2022 7:48 AM |
[quote]Why are British/Irish gay comedians (Graham Norton, Alan Carr) so much funnier than American ones?
They’re not. Graham isn’t funny and the other one using his being flaming and horrible teeth for every punchline.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | May 29, 2022 8:22 AM |
he's funny enough and has a hot ass
by Anonymous | reply 42 | May 29, 2022 10:04 AM |
I think he's hysterical and i've seen him twice, both times the entire audience agreed. You guys just hate everyone who does well. End of story.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | May 29, 2022 10:15 AM |
He’s funny but the opera singing is nails on a chalkboard. I came to hear jokes not listen to La Traviata
by Anonymous | reply 44 | May 29, 2022 9:37 PM |
In my haste to weed out potential non-husbands on Scruff this morning, I’m 99.9% sure I swiped left on Matteo Lane. I checked, he’s not performing in my city, but sometimes scruff randomly recommends guys that are 800 miles away (I’ve apparently exhausted the pool of eligible mens in my area).
I get the occasional porn star I recognize and once got Yvie Oddly from Drag Race (who is cute AF in boy clothes) but we’re never a match and those guys always have their profiles hidden in the search (for good reason).
So my dreams of smashing Matteo Lane and his chaotic bottom energy are postponed for yet another day. ☹️
by Anonymous | reply 45 | June 7, 2022 3:30 PM |
Terrible. But I find most stand up insufferable, so maybe it's me.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | June 7, 2022 3:41 PM |
Matteo gets a Forever Pass from me, if only for his participation in The Bonfire podcast commentary teardown of the LifeTime movie A TALE OF TWO COREYS.
Everyone in those episodes was firing on all cylinders, comedically, and Matteo was no exception. “My wife & I make our own water” has entered my lexicon.
Offsite Linkby Anonymous | reply 47 | June 7, 2022 4:23 PM |
Oakerson isn't gay, so I guess they invited Matteo on the podcast so they could make homophobic jokes.

I’d fuck him before I would ever sit through one of his standup sets.

Tattooed and somewhat tortured gay comedian Todd Glass gets me so hot. Total daddy.

[quote]There’s more to being gay than coming out and having gay voice. I got over all that shit by 16 almost 18 years ago.

Agreed. I'm not saying a gay comedian has to be 100% incidentally gay, making an oblique remark now and then for a laugh and never raising the subject otherwise. The days are gone when gay comedy was like plugging an electrical appliance into a wall and out came something like Mario Cantone that made you think your eardrums would burst - and still, not funny.
I like standup comedy and think I laugh rather easily at someone who's even a little bit clever, even clever silly, or just good at setting up a joke well which can be as funny as it is transparent.
Matteo Lane with his opera singing, his in/out squeaky Ross Matthews voice, and clichés of coming out is just roundly disappointing, and retardataire. It's top much like watching dated gay Italian-American themed films from a quarter of a century ago. Not only does it not hold up well, but it's embarrassingly dated.
I wish there were more gay male comedians who are funny. I'll check back here and hopefully find someone new to me, but for too many it's a case of thinking "the gay angle" eliminates the need to remember to make your material funny. It doesn't.
Lesbians are better at this than gay men it seems, I think because for the better it's a thread woven in and out if everything, not the only note as in someone like the miserably unfunny Kate Clinton who won't deviate from the one-note lesbian gags that never vary in sophistication.
Often straight men are better at gay material than gay men are. Someone like Rhod Gilbert works lots of vulnerability sometimes and other times gayish behavior and perspective of straight guys into his humor not to have at laugh at gays but to have a laugh at himself. John Mulaney made a big thing of "I'm not gay but I might be" but to joke about his demeanor and sensibility of a man "made three-quarters gay." These things can be funny because self-awareness can be funny, not because gay voice or mannerisms are inherently funny.
James Adomian and Todd Glass are funny and their being gay is not incidental, it's the lens through which they see things, but it's not the gag in itself.

I much prefer Brent Sullivan’s dry delivery style. He does jokes about being gay and coming out but in a way different than most gay comics. He also does a great bit breaking down Fred Phelps’ homophobic sermons.

Here’s his Fred Phelps bit
Offsite Linkby Anonymous | reply 53 | June 7, 2022 9:00 PM |
The Brent Sullivan pieces are from 13 and 18 years ago and listening to the Phelps piece I feel Rachel Maddowed, talked down and persuaded - at excruciating length - and dragged against my will to a position exactly where I started out: anti-Fred Phelps (surprise.)
I hate gay humor that preaches to the choir with all the humor (or less, I suspect) than the SNCC legal team arrived in town for a teach-in of what to do and what not to do when the protestors cross the Pettus Bridge in Selma.
Humor can be biting and political and still be funny. But I've bit seen a gay comedian who can do that.

R48 Matteo is a friend to Big Jay & Danny Sodes, and has guested on their pod several times. They didn't drag Matteo into the SXM studio against his will.

The jokes didn’t merit all those pAuUses he made, much less his own laughter. Also, the singing was distracting and felt like showing off. It seemed his jokes are only in the way of his audition to Evita.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | June 7, 2022 11:18 PM |
R54 you hate being gay. You have severe internalized homophobia. Suspect that's why you are here.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | June 16, 2022 1:19 AM |
Matteo Lane's material seems really unimaginative and limited. Gay men should be up there riffing about any number of subjects. Even DL on a slow day offers more variety.
Lane reminds me of other gay male comics who seem to do stand-up by default: they'd actually love to be actors, singers, Bway dancers, but they were never really special enough. So there's always stand-up....
by Anonymous | reply 60 | June 16, 2022 1:43 AM |
He's a hungry bottom and a big ole size queen.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | April 17, 2023 6:30 PM |
R60, gays are too PC these days, too busy virtue signaling. They can’t be funny for fear of offending.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | April 17, 2023 6:38 PM |
I think he was one of the first gays to bring back the moustache-no-beard look. Do we approve? I'm on the fence.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | April 17, 2023 6:39 PM |
I like him, and while no comedian is everyone's cup of tea, I don't agree with many of the comments here which I don't think are accurate. He isn't condescending in manner, and he doesn't act like an A-lister other than by how he dresses sometimes; in fact, he usually goes out of his way to depict himself as dorky and femmy. I think the attitude people are imputing to him has much more to do with his nice body (which admittedly he does like to flaunt) making people feel uncomfortable.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | April 17, 2023 7:45 PM |
I like him when he does imitations of his mother.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | April 17, 2023 7:49 PM |
Not exactly a comedian, but the "Welcome to Sephora” makeup artist on YT, Johnny Ross, is hysterical. He's a great makeup artist, but his clips with the comedy routines are very funny and very popular.
His customer characters are so true to life, especially Barbra, the annoying bragging wealthy suburban hausfrau who always shows up with a red towel on her head with terribly applied makeup and asks Johnny the most outrageous makeup requests. "Can you find me a color, which is nude but BRIGHT?!"
by Anonymous | reply 70 | April 18, 2023 3:36 AM |
I have heard Matteo Lane in relaxed, longer interviews and thought he was funny and quick and insightful at times, and likeable -- none of which I find very easily in his comedy routines which are high maintenance, tiresomely frenetic, and hackneyed gay stereotypes one after another at fever pitch.
I wish him well in moving over to some more comfortable (for him and us) sort of comedy that plays to his strengths.
