He won the Australian Open play-off for the main wildcard into the Australian Open 2018 in December. Minaur completed the year with a singles ranking of 208.
Then, he defeated qualifier Michael Mmoh in the quarterfinals after losing to Ryan Harrison in the semifinal match. He was awarded a wildcard into the French Open 2018 but, he lost in the first-round match to 16th seed Kyle Edmund.
And, he defeated Taro Daniel and Frances tia foe before losing to seventh seed Marin Cilic at the US Open.
